ChristineWRIGHTOf Long Whatton, passed away at home on Tuesday 19th May 2026 after losing her battle with cancer, she was aged 73 Years. Christine was born into the Barker family on 3rd January 1953 where she was raised in Hobbs yard & continued to live within the village all her life making lifelong friends to which were all supportive throughout her illness. She was the last living Barker in the village going back to the mid 1800's so not only is it an end of an era for us as a family but the history behind our family within the village also comes to an end. Christine worked for many years within Long Whatton primary school supervising children at lunchtime & became a valid member of staff up until she retired in recent years.
Her funeral service will take place at All Saints Church Long Whatton on Monday 22nd June 2026 at 12.30pm followed by burial in the churchyard so please join us in celebrating Christine's life.
Donations for Pancreatic Cancer may be brought on the day.
