Remembering Annie with much fondness and special love. She first met our mother, Marjorie Walker (nee Aitchison) at St Thomas's Hospital , they remained firm friends for over 7 decades, alongside Pauline. What a trio they were, as they all shared their various nursing experiences as well as their Christian faith.
Annie expressed appreciation for being 'adopted' by the Walker family - as she shared happy celebrations with us - but the truth is, it was us that loved her being with us. She always shared such warmth and fun and zest for life - alongside encouraging advice such as remembering to 'keep the memory bank full'. As we look back and celebrate her life, lived so well, we have many happy memories of times with Annie, both from our childhood, when we made sardine toasties in her kitchen to later years...it is a joy that she celebrated with us on our wedding days....and a most thoughtful and precious gift she gave my husband and I is that of a photo album of all our guests - as they arrived at the Church door to be greeted and photographed by Annie!
Annie herself would say that neither driving nor navigation were her core strengths - yet she handled such situations with humility, humour and good grace... there are a few stories that we could laugh together about ...
