DuncanYARDLEYIn his 100th year, Duncan sadly passed away on the 20 February 2024 at the University Hospital of Wales.
Duncan was born in Cardiff and grew up in Llandaff attending Kings College and Monkton House, prior to becoming a boarder at Taunton School.
War broke out and he signed up to the RAF at 18 years old as an aircraft engineer. During the war, he was stationed in Swansea and served in Gibraltar before returning to Lyneham where he was demobbed in 1946. After the war, he joined a finance company where he remained for the rest of his working life.
He was a patient at Llandough Hospital in the early 1950's and it was here that he met his future wife Jean who was a nurse. They married in 1956 and moved to Rhiwbina where they lived happily for almost 70 years.
Duncan will be remembered for always looking on the bright side of life; friendly, jolly and, together with Jean, welcomed everyone into their home. He was a passionate and expert gardener who, during the late 1960's, created a beautiful garden that would become the envy of everyone who visited it.
Duncan was a dearly loved husband to Jean and father to Elizabeth and Robert. He was known as Bampa to his granddaughters Emily and Lucy and Great Grandpa to Amelia, all of whom adored him.
