Stephen DavidYATESIt is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Stephen David Yates, who died peacefully at home on 28th May, aged 74.
Steve was born on 17th May 1952 in Leicester, the first child of David and Margaret Yates.
He grew up in North West Leicestershire before his early acting career took him to London, where he later opened an antiques shop off the King's Road in the 1970s.
He returned to Leicestershire and established Quorn Pine, the business he operated for over 30 years.
Steve was well known and loved throughout Leicestershire for his easy charm, love of a party and mischievous sense of humour. As lead singer of local band The Roosters, he was the life and soul of many events and gatherings.
He is survived by his wife Rosie; by Judi, with whom he raised his children Henry and Polly; his stepchildren Millie and Charlie; his grandchildren Phoebe and Milo; and his step-grandson Rowan. The eldest of seven brothers and sisters, his loss will be felt and his life celebrated by many.
Steve's funeral will take place at 3.30pm on Tuesday 23rd June at Loughborough Crematorium, followed by toasts and memories at The Manor, Quorn. All who knew him are warmly invited to join the family for one last "full house".
Family flowers only. Donations in Steve's memory may be made to LOROS, which provided incredible care and comfort in his final days, and to Rainbows.
