Claude MalcolmYEAGER1943 - 2022 Claude Malcolm Yeager, 78, of St. Mellons, Cardiff, Wales, UK, formerly of Anniston and Cullman, Alabama, USA, passed away peacefully on January 27, 2022. He was born on August 31, 1943, in Anniston, Alabama. He had a very strong faith and was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Claude was preceded in death by his devoted and loving wife, Betty Yeoh Yeager, on April 11, 2017. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bertha and Clifton Yeager, his brothers Kenneth Yeager and Charles Yeager, and his sisters Edith Rhae Yeager and Virginia Yeager Butler. Claude is survived by his brother, Jimmy Max Yeager (Pam) of Marietta, Georgia; his sisters, Mary Yeager Meine of Carmel, Indiana; Fredrika Yeager Bolling (James) of Macon, Georgia; and Janet Yeager Goktepe of McLean, Virginia, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Claude was a very kind, sweet-hearted, and wonderful son, husband, brother, and uncle with a strong work ethic. He was the third youngest of 9 children, born and raised in Alabama to devoted parents. He had a very close and loving family. Claude joined the US Army in 1967. He served several years in Vietnam, and was later stationed in the US, Turkey and Germany, and retired after 30 years. He married Betty Yeoh, a British citizen, in 1994, in the London Temple. They settled in Cullman, Alabama, for several years. They moved to Wales in 2000, where they both worked for many years. Claude's employers and colleagues liked him very much as he was always honest, trustworthy, reliable, hard-working, and always willing to help others. Claude loved traveling and explored his family's ancestry while stationed in Germany. He loved American football and watching the University of Alabama football team play games. He enjoyed running, biking, gardening, and reading US newspapers, including The Army Times. Claude's family thanks the kind and generous support and care received from his close friend and work colleague, Mr. Adrian Theodore of Porthcawl, Wales; the wonderful, caring staff of Ty Draw Lodge in Cardiff; and the Llandough Hospital in Cardiff. A memorial service will be held on Friday 25th February at 10:15am at James Summers and Son Roath Court Funeral Home, Newport Road, in Cardiff, Wales, followed by interment at Thornhill Cemetery, Thornhill Road, in Cardiff, Wales, UK
