EricO'HAREHappy Memories Eric's Prayer Bury me close to the Bannock It's aye been like heaven tae me Bury me close to yon bonnie banks Where I as a laddie ran free In those long youthful days Wi oor Tam and Mick We caught baggies and huddled for Troot And swam like fish in your braw sparkling falls As long as the sun it shone oot As a young man I jined the army And saw a fair bit o' the globe Then away wi the auld merchant navy I went even further abroad But the call of your banks it wis aye there So hameward I started to turn And was glad that I courted ma Mary By the banks of the old Bannock Burn Four braw bairns were born in quick order So I worked long hard years in the mine But I took every chance that I could get To walk my bairns and my dug up yer line I taught them to fish and catch rabbits I told them tall tales o' the boats Tae mind and look after their Mither And aye be content wi their lot So bury me close to the Bannock Its aye been like heaven tae me So dear Lord hear my prayer If I'm not welcome up there. Content by the Bannock I'll be. - M O'H Still sadly missed and dearly loved By Mary and all his weans.
