Being on the outskirts of Poole, Tapper Funeral Service has always enjoyed an excellent relationship with the community of Broadstone, and so it seemed a natural and important progression to open an office to better serve bereaved families in this area.
1986 saw the opening of a small funeral home in Macauley Road but, within a fairly short space of time, it became clear that larger premises would be required. Such premises were acquired in 1994 offering a spacious lounge, chapels of rest and car parking. Jan Wharmby, who joined the company in an administrative role in 2002, was trained and promoted to the role of Funeral Director in 2005 and now oversees the majority of funerals for the Broadstone area. Originally from the Channel Islands, Jan now lives with her husband in Lytchett Matravers and is a regular worshipper at Broadstone Methodist Church. More recently Lydia Proudley joined Jan as assistant funeral director and is currently studying for her Diploma in Funeral Directing.
