Based in Nailsea in North Somerset Arthur Edward Davey was born in Nailsea in 1921 and after war service returned to Nailsea in 1947. He understudied Mr. Edwin Lippiatt, the local funeral director, who had inherited the business from his father Mr. Walter Lippiatt. In the 1950's Edwin Lippiatt retired leaving Arthur to continue the business. Now known as Arthur E Davey Funeral Directors. Arthur's two sons Tony and Colin joined the firm from school and since his death in 1985 they continued to expand the business. In 1986 they moved from their Clevedon road site to the present location in Silver Street where they opened a new purpose built premises.
In March 2004 Colin retired from the business due to ill health. In 2011 Colin passed away.
In December 2003 we were pleased to welcome Nicola, the third generation of the family, as a Funeral Director and is responsible for leading the team.. Nicola has worked, in the background, in our funeral business and has gained invaluable experience during that time, qualifying with a diploma. Her sensitive and professional approach to her work is gaining her much praise from her clients.
