Barry JamesSTANBRIDGEIt is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Barry James Stanbridge, affectionately known to all as Baz, on 7th October 2026, aged 87 years.

A devoted husband to his beloved Margaret, now reunited with her, and a much-loved Dad to Mark and Paul and their spouses, Baz was the heart of his family and a friend to many.

Baz spent his whole working life in engineering as a sheet metal worker, a trade he was proud of and one that reflected his hardworking nature and remarkable practical skills. He had an endless fascination with anything mechanical and took great pleasure in restoring and caring for his treasured 1938 Morris 8 and admiring vintage cars.
Away from the workshop, Baz found peace and happiness in his garden. He delighted in growing flowers and creating a space full of colour and life. He was also a devoted animal lover throughout his life, caring for beloved parakeets, several rescue dogs, and most recently his faithful companion Austin, who rarely left his side and brought him tremendous comfort and joy.

Family meant everything to Baz. As a Dad, he filled Mark and Paul's childhoods with adventure and happy memories, whether it was days spent in the park, exploring the woodlands, swimming, fishing, or enjoying family trips to the seaside. Those moments together will be treasured forever.

Known for his friendly nature, strong work ethic, and the wonderful stories he loved to share, Baz could strike up a conversation with anyone. He was the sort of man who was always willing to lend a hand, offer a word of encouragement, or brighten a day with a tale from years gone by. Above all, he was a loving and dependable Dad, whose kindness, warmth and unwavering love for his family will never be forgotten.

A celebration of Baz's life will take place at Loughborough Crematorium on Wednesday 28th October 2026 at 3.30pm.
All family and friends are warmly invited to attend.
Family flowers only, please. Donations in memory of Baz are gratefully accepted for the Dogs Trust and the Leicester Royal Infirmary Radiotherapy Unit.

A much-loved Dad, family man, animal lover, storyteller and friend. Forever in our hearts, always remembered, and dearly missed. ❤️
