John was such a lovely man, the gentlest of gentlemen and so clever and humble. We used to love having a chat with him and hearing about his travels. Rest in peace, you will be missed. Clare,Leigh and Isabel Francis.

So sorry to hear of the loss of Mr Owens. He was the best teacher I had. Encouraging, patient and methodical. I loved his lessons. Peace be with you. Karen (Bagley).

I had the absolute pleasure of being at Bryntirion as both a pupil and then later as a member of staff. Whilst he never actually taught me, he was always kind, caring and an a true gentleman. I will never forget his daily greeting (hello Cariad) and the smile that accompanied it. We exchanged conversation on the corridor whilst he filled the vending machine - he never failed to ask about my family. My children and brother specifically (whom he did actually teach at A level!) John was a very special man, born to teach and make a positive impact on the lives of so many children.

So sad to hear Mr Owens has passed away. He was an amazing maths teacher and I have fond memories of my lessons with him in the 80’s. RIP.

Sebastian and I are sending our thoughts and love to Dai and Ann and all the family at this most challenging time. I will always have such fond memories of my Uncle John and all the fun times we spent together as a family.

Love, laughter, pride and family loyalty are just simple words to describe a great man whom I will miss forever.

With all all my love and sympathies.

Simon and Sebastian
