DavidLIGHT, 1933-2019. David Light, artist, musician and muralist, died quietly on 15th June 2019 aged 86 after a short illness. He will be much missed by his wife Dorothy, and children Yvonne, Terence, Richard and Rebecca, and 8 grandchildren. David - a singer in the Ceramic City Choir for many years - taught art at Stanfield Technical High School and, after retirement, went on to paint the mural in Lobby 4 at the Potteries Shopping Centre in Hanley in 1988, and many other murals across the city. He continued carving, painting, and drawing until the end. In accordance with his wishes there will be no funeral service. A memorial celebration of his life and exhibition of his art is planned for August. If you would like to attend, please email rebeccalight@yahoo.com or write to 11 Woodland Avenue, Norton ST6 8NE.

So many memories of this talented & sensitive man, who like my artist-father awakened in me a love of the graphic, which has led to architecture, now passed on to my eldest boy. David*s influence will always be with me, and am comforted by the biblical promise that "all those in the memorial tombs will come out"!!
Till then dear friend Adieu !

A truely lovely gentleman of the old school literally; he was everything a teacher should be and a great representative of the profession. I remember him doing my 'stage make up' for the school play in the early 70s - such a professional and dedicated man. Managed to say Hi Sir at a reunion. RIP Sir, thank you.

Mr. Light I will remember for always being a most gentle man and good teacher. I recall he had a green mini van and one day pointed out how women had wider pelvises to allow for child birth. Quite a revelation when you are 13. I was at Stanfield from 1959 to 1963.

He was my art teacher at Stanfields in the 1980s. A lovely man, so effortlessly talented, he made art look so easy! I'm so proud that he was my teacher! My thoughts and prayers go to his family, God Bless Mr Wright xx

David Light, affectionately known as Osram by my fellow pupils at Stanfield Tech. was an inspiration to us all. An extremely multi -talented artist also sang with the school choir and played trombone in the orchestra and painted the scenery for the school drama productions. An incredible teacher his legacy wiil live on in his art R.I.P
