I am so sorry to hear of the death of Richard. I was a sociology student at Stirling from 1977 - 1981 and he was one of the lecturers I really remember. He was so kind when I was struggling with some computing work we needed to do, and always helpful. I ended up working at the university and whenever I saw Richard he always was smiling. What a true gentle man. My thoughts are with all his family.

Sorry to see of the passing of Richard. He was my dissertation mentor while at Stirling University for my computing science degree. Gentle, understanding and knowledgeable who was willing to help in any way he could. RIP Richard and thank you

Richard was a true gentleman in every sense. No words can describe the feeling of helplessness on learning of his passing.
He was selfless in the sharing of his understanding and knowledge and a true educator as I am sure his countless students at Stirling University would testify. Our thoughts and prayers are with Rosemary and the family at this sad time. Richard without doubt lived a rich and fulfilling life and it was an honour to have known him.
