MariaREIDMrs Maria Reid (nee Flanagan) of Tunstead Road, Stacksteads, died peacefully in the Pendle Community hospital, Nelson on Friday, June 12, aged 92 years. A service followed by interment was held at Bacup cemetery on Wednesday, June 24, which was conducted by Father P Boast. Born in Bacup she had lived most of her life in Stacksteads. Maria worked at Mullards in Waterfoot for many years and then as a dinner lady at St Joseph’s RC School in Stacksteads. She enjoyed reading, gardening, knitting and, in her younger days, dancing. She was a lifelong parishioner at St Joseph’s, Stacksteads and latterly at St Peter’s, Newchurch. Widow of the late Bernard who died in 2000, she leaves three nephews, three nieces and an extended family. Family flowers only, donations to charity welcome.
