When a loved one passes away there are lots of things to consider when planning their final goodbye, and one such consideration is which charity should be selected to raise donations for in their name.

The family of Carole Clark from Liverpool chose to ask for donations to Sarcoma UK here on funeral-notices.co.uk, raising an incredible £15,906, plus over £1,000 in Gift Aid.

What is sarcoma?

Sarcomas are an uncommon form of cancer that can affect any part of your body, although they most commonly affect the arms, legs and torso.

They are very rare, with approximately 15 people in the UK being diagnosed with sarcoma every day; that’s less than 2% of all cancers diagnosed in the UK each year.

A sarcoma is usually identifiable by a large lump that grows and changes, with most people getting a diagnosis when their sarcoma is the size of a large tin of baked beans! You may also experience stomach pain, sickness or loss of appetite, or even see some blood in your stool or vomit.

Sarcomas can be removed through surgery, or treated with chemotherapy or radiotherapy. If you have been diagnosed with sarcoma, reach out to Sarcoma UK for help and support.

Who is Sarcoma UK and what do they do?

Sarcoma UK is the only cancer charity in the UK focusing on all types of sarcoma. They are a national charity that funds vital research, campaigns for better treatments, and offers help and support to anyone affected by sarcoma.

Sarcoma UK is a relatively young charity that was founded by a sarcoma patient. They receive no government funding and so rely heavily on generous donations such as those left in memory of Carole Clark.

You can reach out to Sarcoma UK through their Support Line, which is an independent and confidential telephone service for anyone affected by sarcoma. They also have a number that you can text questions to, as well as an email address, all the details of which you will find below:
