Here at funeral-notices.co.uk we are passionate about helping our families to raise money for charities in memory of their loved ones. There are thousands of charities up and down the country doing amazing, life changing work, so we thought it would be great to shine a spotlight on some of them and give them just a little bit of the recognition they deserve.
St Luke's Plymouth are celebrating their 40th anniversary in 2022
For an incredible 40 years, St Luke’s Hospice in Plymouth has been providing specialist end of life care and support to the local community. Their incredible teams of doctors, nurses, therapists and social workers work to deliver expert care, advice and support for the patients and their families, whether that be at home, in hospital or at their own specialist unit.
They even share their specialist knowledge via educational classes and courses to their staff in order to teach specific skills, or even just help them to learn how to be more compassionate in their care.
St Luke’s say the following about their vision for the coming years:
Our vision is a community where no person has to die alone, in pain or in distress. We aim to achieve this by delivering specialist and supportive care to those that need it. We want to educate and empower communities, encouraging everyone to work together to build local support networks.
St Luke’s Hospice Plymouth is an independent charity that cared for over 1,980 people from the local community that were living with a life-limiting illness. To continue to run these vital services, they need to raise more than £7.8 million a year, and this would not be possible if not for the people who support great causes such as this.
Fundraising is done in a number of ways, be that through events, regular donations, playing the St Luke’s Lottery, visiting their shops, or leaving a donation in memory of a loved one.
One such example can be seen on the notice here on funeral-notices.co.uk for much loved husband and father,
Denis Sankey. Donations in memory of Denis have been requested to be left for St Luke’s Hospice Plymouth, and as of writing this it has now raised over £450. Not only is that a brilliant help for the charity, but it leaves a lasting legacy in the name of a loved one.
