There are different rules between countries in the UK regarding vaccine passports. In this blog, we’re going to clear up any confusion and set you straight on what the rules are for each country.

Do I need a vaccine passport in England?

The straight answer is no. You do not need a vaccine passport in England.

Previously the government had stated by the end of September vaccine passports will be mandatory to enter nightclubs and other crowded events. However, the government decided to change their minds as it was feared the plans could have crippled the night time industry. Although the government has kept the vaccine passport on “reserve” if needs be.

Do I need a vaccine passport in Scotland?

Yes, you will need to show your vaccine passport from 18th October to enter:

• Nightclubs

• Adult entertainment venues

• Unseated indoor events with more than 500 people

• Unseated outdoor events with more than 4000 people

• Any event with more than 10,000 people

You will not be able to attend any of these venues or events unless you have been double vaccinated and show proof. You can either download the NHS App (not the Covid-19 one) and show the QR code or you can show a paper copy instead.

Currently, you will not need a vaccine passport for restaurants. However, Nicola Sturgeon has not ruled it out.

Do I need a vaccine passport in Wales?

In Wales to enter nightclubs and other large scale events listed above, you will either need to be fully vaccinated or show proof or a negative lateral flow test in the past 48 hours. These rules began on 11th October.

Do I need a vaccine passport in Northern Ireland?

There hasn’t been an official announcement for vaccine passports for large venues and events as of yet. From 31st October nightclubs are allowed to open and you will not need to show proof if you’ve been double vaccinated or show a negative test. Although, it has been said this can change if cases rise rapidly.
Further information on vaccine passports may be found by visiting gov.uk - this includes links to each site for the home nations.

We hope this blog has helped clear up these constantly changing rules.
