Loving husband of the late Angela. Loving father of Emily and Jenny. Loving partner of Joan.

Beloved teacher and friend.

A celebration of John's life will take place on Monday 23rd September in the chapel of St Bede Teesside Crematorium at 3.30pm. No flowers by request please. Donations in lieu if so desired to Tees and Esk Group - MS Society.

Mr Bentley took me for A level English Lit in 1971/2. A great teacher who treated us sixth formers as adults, possibly a little misplaced! A very clever man who got me through Shakespeare and Chaucer to get my A level. RIP
