JamesFOSTERPassed away peacefully on March 13, 2025, surrounded by his loving family, at the age of 84. He leaves behind his devoted wife of 58 years, Mavis, his children Nicola, Paul, and Caroline, sons-in-law Keiron and Jimmy, and his cherished grandchildren Jack, Joseph, Solomon, Phoebe, and Finlay. James was the eldest of three brothers, preceded in death by Fr. David and John.

Born in Clayton-le-Moors, Accrington, James was a passionate sportsman, excelling in swimming, athletics, and football. After attending St Oswald's School, he trained as a panel beater during his apprenticeship at Gilbraith's Commercial before continuing his career at Boiler Ancillary Services. Upon retirement, he moved to Birkdale to help care for his disabled son. James had a deep love for travel, enjoying holidays all over the world especially Tenerife and Benidorm.

His faith was central to his life, and he frequently embarked on Catholic pilgrimages to Lourdes and Rome with his late brother, Fr. David Foster. James will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Funeral service at St Joseph's RC Church on Wednesday 2nd April 2025 at 12 noon, followed by committal at Southport Crematorium.

It is with great sadness that I'm writing this message. Jim was such a proud and devoted father to Nicola, Paul and Caroline and also a loving husband to Mavis, he will be missed dearly.
From an early age I was always made to feel part of the family and I thoroughly respected Jim like my own father. I loved the chats we would have over various practical matters, he was a wealth of knowledge.
Our thoughts and heartfelt condolences are sent with love.

Jim was such a lovely man. Such a kind soul with a big heart. I’ll always remember his smile and dry sense of humour. If something wasn’t right, it wasn’t just no, it was ‘nooo’! He was so knowledgeable on so many different subjects. I just always found myself smiling when I was around him. People like that are rare.
much love to my friend Paul, Mavis and the family
