Whispers to my father in heaven

Time cannot heal my heartache
Or stop my silent tears
It won’t take away the memories
Of one I loved so dear
Missing you always Dad, I’ll keep whispering to heaven

Having been Richard's partner, and more recently his wife, for nearly 20 years I can genuinely say Bernard was a really lovely man, a true gent. He had a great sense of humour and the McCabe "tormental" gene was legendary!!! His laugh was infectious.

The four of us, me, Richard, Pat and Bernard, went on many holidays abroad together, as well as holidays, nights away and day trips in the UK. One of his favourite trips we took was in 2018 and we went to Jersey. We joined the National Trust together and also visited English Heritage sites.

He was a real family man. He wasn't one to show his emotions but he loved his family and adored his wife Pat. I loved that whenever they went out he held her hand.

Rest in peace Bernard and I promise we will look after Pat, just like you asked us too.
