AlanTAYLORdied on 22nd November 2023 at Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital aged 79. He will be sadly missed by his wife Margaret, sons Paul and David, grandchildren Amy-Jo, Ashley and Michael, and great-grandchildren Dorian and Penelope.
Alan worked for most of his career in local government, starting in Plymouth in 1970, becoming Assistant Town Clerk in 1974, before becoming Chief Executive of the London Borough of Sutton and then of The Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea. He also served as Chairman of the Society of Local Authority Chief Executives (SOLACE).
When he retired in 2000, Alan and Margaret lived in Bridford, moving to Exton in 2013. He had many interests, serving as Chairman of the Dartmoor Access Forum and as a member of the Regional Committee of the National Trust South West. He also had an active participation in local organisations including Bridford Twinning, Chagford Singers, Exmouth Choral Society, Exe DFAS and the Samaritans.
Funeral service to be held at St Peter’s Chapel, Exeter & Devon Crematorium EX2 6EU on Thursday 21st December at 2:30pm.
