TONY INGHAMTony Ingham, QPR’s appearance record holder, died on 21 April, 2010, aged 85.The Queens Park Rangers veteran played in 555 games between 1950 and 1963.He was born in Harrogate in 1925 and served with the Royal Navy during the Second World War.After that he joined Harrogate Town while taking an electrician’s apprenticeship. He signed for Leeds in 1947 but made only three league appearances before moving to Loftus Road in 1950.During his time in the QPR defence he was almost never out of the team, once going on a run of 272 consecutive games.Ever after retirement he remained with the club, eventually becoming commercial director. A function room at the ground was named in his honour.His family said: “Tony was QPR through and through. This was his club and he enjoyed some of the finest moments of his wonderful life playing for the Hoops.”
