We're making a slight change to our funeral notices

We are making a slight improvement to funeral notices. From Thursday you will see specific fields in the booking template where you can add the date of birth & date of death to notices. Completing these fields will be optional.

What is new?

New DOB & DOD Fields
We have added additional information fields to capture the date of birth and date of death of the loved ones you are honouring with a funeral notice.

Including the date of birth and date of death fields in all of our newspaper notices brings them in line with our online notices.

This improvement will not be new to everyone; some newspapers such as the Liverpool Echo and the Daily Post have always required this information.

Why are we making this change?

Capturing the DOD & DOB in notices
Having listened to feedback from Funeral Directors, including this additional information is something families want, giving them the opportunity to tell us more about their loved one.

Including the date of birth and date of death in a notice helps friends and family find their notice on search engines such as Google. It also helps to identify their loved one, making their notice even more unique.

Displaying the date of birth and date of death on a notice improves the visual appeal of the notice when published on funeral-notices.co.uk and it will appear at the top of the notice as in the example.

If you book your own notices

From Thursday you will notice the additional fields requesting date of birth and date of death. We are keeping this optional for you to decide if you wish to include this information and you do not have to fill both fields in - you could just include the date of birth or the date of death. If you do not wish to add these details at all, you can leave them blank and continue booking as you usually do.

If you call or email us your notices

Again this is optional information. If you would like to include date of birth and date of death simply add it to the email you send to request the booking or mention it to one of the team when you call us.

When you speak with your families, please ask them if they want to include date of birth and date of death in their notice.
