When will restrictions on funerals end?

Like you, we welcomed the news that the 30 person limit on attendance at funerals in England ended on 17th May, bringing rules in England in line with Northern Ireland and Wales where attendance is limited only by the ability of the venue to safely accommodate people in accordance with the 2m covid-safe rules.

It is believed that all rules on social distancing in England will end on 19th July meaning no restrictions on funerals, wakes and gatherings. In Scotland, up to 200 people will be able to attend a funeral from the 19th. Wales is due to update their plans for the roadmap out of lockdown on Wednesday, with Northern Ireland currently sticking to the size of the venue as the only restriction on attendance.

Memorial Services

When restrictions on social distancing do relax, the many people unable to hold the funeral they wanted or unable to celebrate the life of their loved one as they wished, may choose to hold a memorial service. Bereavement advice site CRUSE advises: 'When restrictions allow, you can consider a larger memorial service or event so that all those who want to can come together and remember the person who died'.

It may be that you are contacted by families whose loved ones have been in your care over the last year or so to help facilitate a Memorial Service on their behalf. Unlike the very limited numbers at funerals we have seen, it would be lovely to see larger gatherings take place this summer.

To help you with these, we have created a print and online Memorial Services notice, exclusive to Funeral Directors. These notices will be charged at one fixed price of £50 plus VAT and will come with the same benefits of your usual funeral notice including free photos in print and online, space to include your company logo and will be published with all of your usual notices on funeral-notices.co.uk and the paper of your choice.

Memorial Service notices also come with the option to include a cashless collection for charity(ies) - another opportunity to honour the legacy of loved ones.

As the notices are a fixed charge, it may be that the family wish to include more information about the memorial service, a little about the person they've lost as well as thank those who have been a great support to them during their grief.
We thank you for your continued support and once again thank you for your dignity, professionalism and hard work in what has been the most challenging year of most of our lives.
