As a funeral director, you're constantly seeking innovative ways to serve grieving families and enhance the funeral planning process. This means using technology to make information more accessible and to streamline tasks. One powerful and increasingly popular tool for this is the QR code. When integrated into funeral notices, these simple-looking barcodes offer a wealth of benefits that can improve family services and boost your funeral home's online presence.
A QR (Quick Response) code is a two-dimensional barcode that can be scanned by a smartphone. When a user scans the code, they are instantly directed to a specific online destination—in this case, the corresponding online funeral notice. This seamless connection bridges the gap between traditional print media and the rich, interactive content available online.
For funeral directors, this means providing a direct and effortless way for families and friends to access vital information and engage with the memorial.
1. A Centralised Hub for All Information:
The online funeral notice serves as a comprehensive hub. A QR code on a printed notice, such as an Order of Service or newspaper announcement, eliminates the need for mourners to manually type in a web address. With a quick scan, they can access:
Service Details: Real-time updates on the funeral service, including date, time, and location.
Obituaries and Tributes: A space for loved ones to read the full obituary and share their own personal tributes and condolences.
Charitable Donations: A secure and direct link to a chosen charity for online donations, making the process simple for donors.
Photo and Video Galleries: A digital gallery where families can share cherished memories, photos, and videos.
2. Streamlined Donations and Charitable Giving:
One of the most practical applications of a QR code is simplifying the process of charitable donations in memory of the deceased. By placing a QR code on a collection box or within the Order of Service, you can direct mourners to an online donation page. This is particularly beneficial for:
Cashless Convenience: It caters to a society that increasingly relies on digital payments.
Accurate Tracking: It provides a transparent and efficient way to track all donations made.
Increased Contributions: Making the process easy and immediate can lead to a higher number of donations.
3. Enhanced Communication and Awareness:
QR codes help a funeral notice reach a wider audience. By including a QR code, you encourage people to share the online notice on social media or with others who couldn't attend the service. This awareness can result in:
More Tributes:A higher number of tributes and condolences shared online, which can be a source of comfort for the bereaved family.
Wider Reach: The ability for the notice to be seen by friends, family, and colleagues who may not have seen the printed version.
The process is simple. For every new funeral notice, you will be able to generate a unique QR code. You can then:
Integrate it into Printed Materials: Add the code to the Order of Service or memorial book.
Display it at the Service: Place a printed copy of the QR code near donation boxes or a guestbook.
Once the notice is booked, you will receive the QR code in a separate email. You can then send this email, featuring the pre-designed page, to your Order of Service provider to include or print out for distribution at the funeral. The pre-designed page includes instructions on how to use the QR code. Each QR code provides a direct link to the corresponding notice.
If you want to receive the QR code email, contact us, and we will activate it. You'll then receive a QR code via email for every notice you book. If your organisation has multiple branches, we can activate it at the branch level, so only those branches wanting to use the service will receive the emails.
Alternatively, you can find the QR code in your booking history on our self-serve booking system anytime. Click on 'Your Booking History' to see the prompt 'Get QR Code' on the right-hand side beneath the price breakdown. Click on that and download the QR code.
