Welcoming you to 2024

Welcome to 2024. A brand new year filled with the promise of things to come.
To kick off the year we want to take a quick look back at 2023 and at some of the things we have to look forward to this year.
2023 was a good year for Funeral Notices. We welcomed more than 13.7 million unique users* to the website. A very strong and growing audience for what is one of the saddest, yet most important, announcements a person will ever have to make.
In addition to this, we recorded more than 263 million page views over 45.4 million sessions. Notices were shared on social media over 83,000 times - helping families collect memories on their notices that will last forever. Over the year, almost 60 thousand photos and videos were added to tribute pages, more than 150 thousand tributes added and over 166 thousand virtual candles lit in memory - an amazing number of interactions.
We launched QR codes on notices in July 2023. They were used to view notices more than 22 thousand times.
We also hit a huge milestone last year - with over £5 million raised for charities and good causes through donations on notices. More than £1.5 million was collected in 2023. The generosity of people is staggering, especially given the current economic climate. Seeing money transferred to charities following the closure of an in-memory collection never fails to make us smile - it is the favourite part of the site for us all and adds so much to the legacy of lost loved ones. Thank you for your work explaining online donations to families.
January is well underway and we know you're busy because we're busy too. This year we promise to deliver more of the same, supporting you in giving families the everlasting tribute their loved ones deserve. Digital notices will be our main priority as they continue to grow in popularity. The value of a digital notice in these difficult times has never been more important. We will have more information on changes to our online notice offering over the coming months.
We're also working on giving the website a bit of a makeover, making sure it remains a welcoming, safe place for people to remember loved ones.
We look forward to continuing to work with you in 2024.
