The role of a funeral director in helping families raise money in memory of their loved ones is invaluable, and we like to celebrate and thank you for this. Today's blog explores recent collections that have made a difference to the charities receiving them.
Family and friends collected £985 for Mikeysline and £9,331 for the Highland Hospice in memory of
Dougie Milne. Dougie's tribute page has been viewed more than 7,000 times, with many loving tributes and memories added. What a remarkable thing to collect so much money for two charities in memory of someone so loved! The funeral director, Mairi Urquhart & Son Funeral Group, subscribes to Funeral Notices and has had some incredible charitable collections facilitated by the unlimited digital notices they receive with their subscription.
We recently closed a collection for
The Kirkwood in Kirklees, Huddersfield, with more than £2,400 in donations - plus over £500 in Gift Aid. Morley Rhodes and Wainwright Funeral Directors, Skelmanthorpe, placed the notice, and the tribute page received 3,375 visitors—another fantastic collection for charity.
Aside from the impressive individual collections for charities, it is also lovely to discover charities we don't often hear about. We recently closed a collection for the
Alan Morement Memorial Fund - the UK's only cholangiocarcinoma, bile duct cancer, charity. Family and friends of a loved one collected more than £900 for this charity, which will significantly help the charity raise awareness, support research, and provide information.
Similarly, we recently closed a collection of more than £1,700 for the
Aortic Dissection Charitable Trust. They aim to unite patients, families, and the medical community to improve the diagnosis of a condition often misdiagnosed that claims 2,000 lives yearly.
You can choose to collect for up to five charities on a notice on Funeral Notices, and we frequently see collections for more than one charity. In this recent collection, family and friends shared more than £2,200 between three charities in memory of their loved one,
Bethan Williams. The donations were shared between Marie Curie, Kentigern Hospice, and Myeloma UK, who will be grateful for the support.
Thank you for everything you do to facilitate donations for families.
